At Hawker Medical Practice in Belconnen, Canberra, we offer conveniently located specimen collection directly inside our clinic. Having an onsite pathology collector simplifies your care, saving you an extra trip and ensuring your GP gets diagnostic results as quickly as possible.

Collection Hours & Details

  • Location: Suites 2 & 3, Birubi Chambers, 121 Hawker Place, Hawker ACT 2614

  • Operating Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 2:00 pm

  • Appointments: No appointment necessary — walk-ins are welcome during collection hours for most routine testing.

Pathology Services Provided

  • Our qualified onsite collector handles a wide range of doctor-requested pathology services, including:

    • Routine Blood Tests: Full blood count (FBC), iron studies, cholesterol and lipid panels, liver function, and kidney function tests.

    • Chronic Disease Monitoring: HbA1c testing for diabetes, thyroid checks, and blood glucose testing.

    • Specialized Diagnostic Panels: Hormone profiling, vitamin and mineral deficiency screenings, and cardiovascular risk assessments.

    • Routine Specimen Collection: Urinalysis, STI screenings, and microbiological cultures.

    • INR Testing: Routine monitoring for patients taking anticoagulants (Warfarin).

How It Works

    • GP Referral: Your doctor will provide you with a pathology request form during your consultation if testing is required for your diagnosis or health monitoring.

    • Visit Collection: Bring your request form to the onsite collection room during operating hours.

    • Fasting Instructions: If your doctor has requested a fasting test (e.g., fasting glucose or lipids), please fast for 8–12 hours before giving your sample (drinking plain water is allowed).

    • Receiving Results: Samples are processed efficiently, and results are delivered securely to your GP for review.

Billing Note: General pathology tests ordered by Hawker Medical Practice doctors are bulk-billed under Medicare for eligible patients. Please bring your valid Medicare card and referral form with you. Please note that while located inside our clinic, the pathology collector operates as an independent service.
