History
From 1989 to 1991, Dr Jacob Foo and Dr Paterson Kwan were working at the Scullin Health Centre as private general practitioners. The Scullin Health Centre closed it’s doors and in 1991, Doctors Foo and Kwan started a small private general practice in Birubi Chambers, Hawker.
The building was purpose built to be used as a private medical and health facility. The medical practice grew over the years both in the number of patients we service and in the size of our premises. In 2004 Dr Ta Phengsiaroun replaced Dr Foo as partner principal and so the name Hawker Medical Practice was adopted in July 2004.
Hawker Medical Practice is now an accredited private medical practice in the township of Belconnen in Canberra. Our goal is to provide comprehensive and personal health care to the local community. The majority of our doctors have worked in Belconnen for over 15 years.
As general practitioners, we endeavour to adopt a personal and holistic approach in providing quality medical care. We believe that an ongoing relationship with a family doctor of your choice is important to your health care.

Treatment
philosophy
Hawker Medical Practice offers non- judgemental, holistic healthcare for our patients which is care which responds not only to the presenting medical condition but also its long term history and its psycho-social context.
The practice encourages patients to develop an ongoing relationship with their GP so that the medical care of the patient is relevant with the patient’s long term medical needs.
